It was my anniversary this past Saturday, 11 years married and 13 years together!
It seems like a long time, but it feels as though it’s gone by so fast.
We often kid each other that repeat offenders do less time!
We’ve been through a lot together and it hasn’t always been easy, but we have a love and respect for one another that seems to keep things moving in the right direction.
Do we get on each others nerves? Yes! Do we disagree? Absolutely!
But…
Somehow we manage to keep it all together!
Maybe it’s because we find humor in all our glorious dysfunction?
Lord knows we’re far from perfect, but he’s my rock, my best friend and it just seems to work!
I’ve always had pretty eclectic taste in music, I can listen to just about anything with the exception of death metal!
Recently my sister and I were discussing guilty pleasures in music and at first I thought I might pick a country song because I’ve always liked a bit o’ country, but then I got to thinking it’s not something I would really get embarrassed about if someone caught me listening to it!
So then I though maybe I should pick a Justin Bieber song because my daughter loves him and I occasionally… alright always sing along, but even that was something I could explain away because my nine-year old daughter LOVES The Biebster!
So after a lot of thought I came up with…
Get Low by Lil’ John and The East Side Boyz!
(Caution explicit lyrics)
I feel the need to explain!
I first heard the song when my bestie and I went to a karaoke bar and she shocked the shit out of me when belted it out along with Gin and Juice by Snoop Dog. I never knew till that moment that she even liked rap! I have never laughed so hard in my life and she did a brilliant job. Then a few months later the movie The Proposal came out and I about died when I saw Sandra Bullock and Betty White singing it around a fire in the woods.
Yeah I probably look like that when I dance to it too!
So hi my name is Kirsten and my guilty pleasure is Get Low…
Every once in a while you just have to treat yourself!
I’ve been challenging my anxiety and doing things outside my comfort zone a lot lately! Some things may seem inconsequential to others, but to me they’re huge, they make me smile and feel good inside, not to mention they feel like steps in the right direction! So why not give my feet a little pizzaz to take those steps!
